Shock results in the First Division Pairs

In last weeks Indoors Bowls Leagues we saw some shock results in the First Division Pairs with second-placed 1 in 4 being beaten 4-0 by TOU and bottom-placed OK drawing 2-2 with a third-placed team the Officials. The Points Make Prizes pair of Mike Ashmole and Colin Brown also showed that they are capable of making a late challenge for the League win as they beat Kencoe 4-0 while leaders Ramsey Wallys won 4-0 against Super Hoops Terriers and Enigma lost 4-0 to Spinners. This means that Ramsey Wallys maintain their lead on 31 points flowed by Points Make Prizes who have a game in hand and have 25 points while 1 in 4 drops to third place with 24 points.

In the Premier Pairs, we saw leaders Dragons beat Young Guns 3-1, Cheesemakers beat Tee Pegs 4-0 and in a game played between Villans and Villa Boys we saw a 2-2 draw and unfortunately as one of the Radical Heads Pair was too late arriving their opponents GLS claimed the game and took a 4-0 walkover. Dragons then still lead with 34 points and in second place are Cheesemakers on 30 points followed by Villans on 22 points.

The Tuesday Morning League saw leaders Bushwhackers beat Cushags 6-0 and Villans also took a 6-0 win against Jacks on a Roll, Ramsey Raiders beat Maxums 5-1 and Onchan Royals beat Early Birds 4-2. In the remaining match, we saw Hillbillies beat Thru the Gap 4-2 which means that Bushwhackers still lead with 48 points followed by Villans on 43 points and in the third spot are Hillbillies on 39 points.

The team ‘on fire’ at the moment are the Dragons in the Premier Teams League who put on a great display to beat Villans 6-0 while Ramsey Raiders lost 4-2 to DNA and a good performance from Saltire saw them beat Birdies 4-2. The one remaining match saw Cheesemakers beat Bay City Bowlers 5-1 leaving Dragons on top spot with 49 points and in second place are Cheesemakers on 42 points and Bay City Bowlers third on 40 points.

Thursday nights First Division Teams League leaders Ramsey Wallys beat Oddballs 5-1, Maxums beat Optimists also 5-1 and OK beat Cowley Cannonballs 4-2. With Spinners having a bye the one remaining match was between Smugglers and CAOS with the latter team winning 4-2. In the top spot, we have Ramsey Wallys on 42 points followed by Spinners on 32 points and Smugglers on 31 points.

The Dragons showed good form in the Friday Afternoon Pairs to beat Woodbourne Reds 4-0, OK beat Southpaws 4-0 and Sunset Rollers beat Celtic Thunder 3-1. A low scoring tussle between Cowley Cannonballs and High Jacks was won 3-1 by the latter team with Low Rollers beating Powered by Prosecco 21-8 which means that Dragons still lead on 36 points with High Jacks second on 28 points and Sunset Rollers third and also on 28 points.

In the Friday Night Singles League leader, Muriel Cain beat second-placed John Kewley 18-6, and Rob Matthews beat Pauline Cowley 13-9 while Gary Lenton took a 25-7 win against Mike Moyer. A close game between Mike Ashmole and Paul Cowley ended 14-14 and Andy Foster lost 23-3 to Edward Carlyle. The outcome of all this is that Muriel Cain still leads on 21 points, John Kewley is second on 18 points and Gary Lenton is third on 15 points.
