Title Race tightens as Copyshop League season nears the end

With just one match remaining, Dragons have taken a big step toward the title after winning one set and drawing the other against Green Machine. Second place Simple Minds, who are four points behind, kept their hopes alive with a two-set win over Villans. Lee Don strengthened their grip on third place by taking both sets against J & A, while Ayre Assassins remain fourth despite losing both sets to Villa Boys. Statler & Waldorf also enjoyed a strong outing, taking both sets from Douglas Old Boys. Dragons have not quite clinched the title yet. With Simple Minds still only four points behind and one match to play, the championship will be decided in the final round, although Dragons remain strong favourites.

In the final match, Tuesday Team League winners Villans took the triples and pairs while Bowling Stones secured the singles. The Wolves made the better start by winning the triples, but KCS Sunshine Band responded well to take both the singles and pairs. Maxums won the triples and singles, however Ramsey Raiders came back strongly to claim the pairs. Early Birds recorded a convincing result by winning all three sets against Stand and Deliver. Northern Lights narrowly missed out on the triples by just one point but did win the singles, while Castletown Crofters took the pairs.

With one match remaining in the First Division Pairs, CC & Me have closed the gap to just three points behind league leaders Castletown Crofters after their two-set win against Enigma. Crofters drew their match with Yesterday’s News, while GGs were too strong for 1-in-4 and took both sets. Pin Pals’ two-set win against Atlas has pushed them up to fourth place and they still have an opportunity to improve their position in the final match. TOU won one and drew one in their game against MisFits.

Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest collected five points from their match against Northern Lights, which was enough to secure second place in the Wednesday Team League. Villans must settle for third place after taking just two points from their match against league winners Simple Minds. Saltire came very close to taking third and eventually finished fourth after winning two sets in their match against The Emerald Easers.

Bowlistics remain top of the Triples League table but have not yet crossed the finishing line after their match against IBS ended in a draw. Optimists closed the gap to four points after taking both sets from Castletown Crofters, a win that also pushed them into second place. GGs drew their match with Gutter Gang and are now just one point behind Optimists. The final match is crucial for the top three, with Castletown Crofters taking on GGs in a game that could decide the final standings.

In the final Friday Pairs League match of the week, Top Dogs won both sets against Emanden UTD. The other matches all ended in draws, with Maxums sharing the points with GGs, Weather Girls drawing with Bowling Divas, and CC & Me drawing against Crown Greeners.

In the First Division Singles there were wins for Paul Routledge, Anita Roberts and Colese Creer, bringing a successful season to a close for players new to indoor bowling.

In the final games of the Premier Singles there were wins for Wayne Roberts, Adrian Slater, Stuart Garrett and Andy Dixon.
