It’s tough at the top

The past week has seen those holding the top spot in the various Indoor Bowling Leagues find the going tough and we now have several new leaders. In the Premier Pairs, we saw leaders Cheesemakers lose 4-0 to Dragons, Young Guns beat Radical Heads 4-0 and Villans lost 3-1 to GLS while Villa Boys lost 3-1 to Tee Pegs. The outcome of this was that Dragons now take over the leading spot on 23 points with Cheesemakers dropping to second place on 22 points and Young Guns are third on 16 points.

In the Tuesday Morning League, we saw first and second-placed Teams Hillbillies and Villans play out a 3-3 draw while third-placed Bushwhackers beat Onchan Royals 6-0 and Jacks on a Roll lost 4-2 to Earlybirds. In the remaining two games, Thru the Gap lost 4-2 to Maxums and Ramsey Raiders beat Cushags 4-2. This means that we now have new leaders in Bushwhackers who have 36 points followed by Hillbillies on 35 points and Villans on 33 points.

In the First Division Pairs, we again saw the leaders lose as Points Make Prizes defeated the Officials 4-0, Ramsey Wallys beat TOU and OK lost 4-0 to 1 in 4. Enigma drew 2-2 with the Super Hoops Terriers and Spinners beat Kencoe 4-0. This again means new leaders with Ramsey Wallys going into first place on 25 points followed by 1 in 4 second on 22 points and the Officials drop to third but also on 22 points.

In the Premier Teams, the Dragons beat Birdies 6-0 while Villans beat Cheesemakers 4-2 and Saltire lost 6-0 to Ramsey Raiders, and in the remaining match, Bay City Bowlers took 4-2 win over DNA. In the lead after this, we have Dragons on 37 points followed by Bay City Bowlers and Cheesemakers both on 33 points.

The First Division Teams saw Ramsey Wallys maintain their lead by beating Smugglers 4-2, OK beat Maxums 4-2, Optimists beat Oddballs 6-0 and Spinners beat CAOS 4-2. This sees Ramsey Wallys still at the top with 37 points, Spinners second on 30 points and Smugglers third with 25 points.

Top Team Dragons carried on with their winning ways in the Friday Afternoon League by beating Southpaws 4-0 while second-placed Sunset Rollers lost 3-1 to High Jacks. OK and Cowley Cannonballs played out a 2-2 draw, Powered by Prosecco beat Celtic Thunder 3-1 and Low Rollers lost 4-0 to Woodbourne Reds. Dragons are in the top spot on 28 points and still in second place are Sunset Rollers with 25 points followed closely by High Jacks on 24 points.

In the Singles League John Kewley lost his unbeaten record as Paul Cowley beat him 24-7 while Muriel Cain kept up her unbeaten record with a 15-7 defeat of Gary Lenton. Andy Foster got his first win of the season by beating Pauline Cowley 14-6 and David Quayle beat Edward Carlyle 15-6. In the remaining two matches Mike Moyer beat Michelle Cowley 12-9 and Mike Ashmole beat Rob Mathews 13-7 meaning that Muriel Cain now has a clear lead at the top on 18 points followed by John Kewley and Mike Ashmole both on 15 points.
