Ramsey Wallys lead Premier Teams League

Week five of the Copyshop Indoor Bowls saw the newly promoted Ramsey Wallys team move into top place in the Premier Teams League as they defeated Saltire 6-0. In the remaining two games played Birdies beat Villans 4-2 and Bay City Bowlers lost 2 -4 to Dragons. This means that Ramsey Wallys now lead with 19 points and in second place are Villans on 18 points followed by Birdies who also have 18 points.

In the First Division Teams the leaders Spinners beat Castletown Crofters 4-2, Team Caos beat Oddballs 6-0 and Optimists lost 2-4 to Maxums while OK had a bye. The end result of this is that Spinners with 23 points have a 9 point lead over Castletown Crofters who have 14 points and in third place are Maxums also with 14 points.

A strong performance from Dragons in the Tuesday Morning League saw them beat Maxums 6-0 while Villans beat Thru the Gap 4-2 and Onchan Royals played well to take a 6-0 victory against Hillbillies. In the remaining two matches we saw Castletown Crofters beat Early Birds 5-1 and Jacks on a Roll had a 6-0 walkover against Ramsey Raiders. This means that Dragons top the league with 26 points followed by Villans with 21 points and Onchan Royals with 20 points.

In the Premier Pairs there was only two games played with Dragons beating Villa Boys 4-0 and Villans and Cheesemakers playing out a 2-2 draw. Dragons now top the league with 16 points followed by Cheesemakers on 15 points and Villans on 12 points.

The First Division Teams League is proving to be a closely contested affair with only two points separating the top four teams and this week saw some interesting results. Ramsey Wallys proved to be too strong for Stan and Ollie as they beat them 4-0, Spinners beat leaders 1 in 4 also 4-0, Enigma beat TinJo 3-1 and TOU and How Much played out a 2-2 draw. The Ramsey Wallys now move back into top place with 13 points followed by Spinners with 12 points and closely following them we have 1 in 4 and How Much? both on 11 points.

In the Friday Afternoon Pairs we saw leaders OK beat Rejects 3-1, Dragons and Celtic Thunder drew 2-2 and Em and Bee and High Jacks also drew 2-2. This means that OK still top the league with 15 points followed by Dragons on 12 points and in third place are High Jacks on 10 points.

In the Singles League Gordon Wynne-Smythe was beaten 14-9 by Dee Lewis, Muriel Cain beat Win Kewley 19-8 and Alan Franklin beat Marilyn Ellison 14-10. The remaining match saw a close battle with Rob Matthews beating John Kewley 10-8 and we now see Muriel Cain in first place with 12 points while Rob Matthews moves up into second with 9 points followed by John Kewley also on 9 points.

This week has seen the Triples Championship taking place and the time of going to press we have got to the Semi-Final stage and the lineup for that is Jimmy Sansom, Paula and Stuart Garrett v Chas Grills, Stefan Kelly and Alan Moore and Janice Pilling, Clive and Bernice McGreal v David Quirk, Wayne Roberts and Trevor Quayle.
