Moore and Boland win 3R’s Indoor Pairs Championship

Alan Morre and Glen Boland with their trophy

Last week we saw some great bowling in the 3R’s Indoor Bowls Pairs Championship with Alan Moore and Glen Boland finally coming through to win the event for the first time after a thrilling Final against Brian Lindsay and Edward Carlyle.

At the Quarter Final stage we saw Alan Moore and Glen Boland take the win against Gary Lenton and Dee Lewis while Colin Brown and Mike Thomas were beaten by Shaun Seal and Ian Moore. In the other half of the draw Brian Lindsay and Edward Carlyle beat Paula and Stuart Garrett and Wayne Roberts and Trevor Quayle went through to the Semi Finals by beating Peter Hughes and Tony Epifani.

This brought us through to Friday night with the Semi Finals and Final being played and those who  came to spectate were treated to a wonderful display of bowling and in the Semi Finals the pairing of Lindsay and Carlyle played a fantastic game to beat Wayne Roberts and Trevor Quayle and on the night Alan Moore and Glen Boland were just to good for Shaun Seal and Ian Moore.

The Final saw the pairing of Moore and Boland start well and build up an early lead and it looked to be all over when it came to the last of the ten ends this duo led 8-5 but an amazing strike by Edward Carlyle left him and Brian Lindsay ‘lying’ game and Alan Moore had the final bowl of the game. Alan despite the pressure kept his composure to play the ‘perfect’ bowl meaning that he and partner Glen Boland became the 2023 3R’s Indoor Bowls Pairs Champions winning with a final score of 9-5.

The President of the Isle of Man Indoor Bowling Association then congratulated the winners and thanked the Sponsor Rob Matthews of 3R’s for his sponsorship and anyone who had helped in running the competition and the trophies were then presented by Rob Matthews.
