Cheesemakers maintain their good form in Premier Pairs

Week 2 of the Indoor Bowls season saw Cheesemakers once more show good form as they beat GLS 4-0 in the Premier Pairs and it looks as if they have to be the joint-favourites for this League with Dragons who also had a good start to their season by beating Tee Pegs 4-0. Newly promoted Villa Boys played well and Villans had to find their best form to eventually run out 4-0 winners and in the remaining game of the night, Young Guns beat Radical Heads 4-0.

In the Tuesday Morning League, the newly formed Bushwackers team beat Cushags 6-0 while Villans also had a 6-0 victory over Early Birds and we also saw another 6-0 victory as on the day Hillbillies were too strong for Thru the Gap. In the remaining two games we saw Jacks on a Roll lose 4-2 to Maxums and Onchan Royals beat Ramsey Raiders 4-2.

In the First Division Pairs, the Ramsey Wallys drew 2-2 with Kencoe while the Officials played well to beat OK 4-0 and Points Make Prizes managed to pick up two points as they drew with 1 in 4. TOU proved to be too strong for Super Hoops Terriers as they won 4-0 and Enigma and Spinners had a good battle which finished in a 2-2 draw.

The Premier Teams League two of the favoured teams meet with Cheesemakers beating Villans 4-2 while Bay City Bowlers did well to beat Ramsey Raiders 4-2 and Dragons showed great form to take a 6-0 victory from DNA. In the remaining match of this closely contested League, we saw Birdies beat Saltire 4-2.

The Thursday night First Division Teams saw new team Ramsey Wallys take their second successive 6-0 win as they beat Optimists and Cowley Cannonballs took a 4-2 victory over OK. Spinners played well to beat Oddballs 4-2 and the final match of the night between CAOS and Smugglers was a very close affair which eventually ended in a 3-3 draw.

In the Friday afternoon Pairs all of the five matches ended with a 4-0 scoreline with OK going down to High Jacks, Cowley Cannonballs beat Powered by Prosecco and Low Rollers lost to Southpaws. Sunset Rollers beat Celtic Thunder and in the final game, Woodbourne Reds played very well but were eventually beaten by Dragons.

This Friday 23rd October sees the start of the new Mixed Singles League and I will tip Muriel Cain to be favourite in this competition but she will not have an easy opening match as she takes on Edward Carlyle. Gary Lenton is also proving to be a much-improved player and he will be hoping to push for the league win as will David (Rads) Quayle. I sincerely hope this new competition goes well and most importantly that everyone enjoys it.
