More leagues won in indoor bowling leagues

After the latest round of the Indoor Bowling Season we have just one League left to be decided with that being the Premier Pairs which we will start with. This saw leaders Young Guns draw with Cheesemakers while Villans beat Radical Heads 4-0 to move into top spot. Northern Nomads lost 4-0 to GLS and TOU also lost 4-0 to Orange Peelers. This then sees Villans in first place with 37 points, Young Guns second on 36 points and Cheesemakers third with 35 points.

First Division Pairs

In the First Division Pairs we saw Villa Boys who were newly promoted from the Second Division at the beginning of the season make it two promotions in two seasons by beating 1 in 4 with a 4-0 score line while second placed Spinners lost 3-1 to Kencoe. In the remaining match of the night Unbelievabowls beat Enigma 4-0 leaving Villa Boys as the league winners on 46 points followed by Spinners on 38 points and Unbelievabowls third on 26 points.

Second Division Pairs

The final night of the Second Division Pairs started with three teams having a chance of winning the title of Champions and we saw leaders Sunset Rollers beat third placed Woodbourne Reds 4-0 and second placed Reckless Rollers beat the Sensibles 4-0 while Cowley Cannonballs also had a 4-0 victory over Smooth Matters. This meant that both Sunset Rollers and Reckless Rollers ended on 34 points but as Sunset Rollers had a chalk difference of 90 and their opponents a chalk difference of 64 the league positions ended Sunsets Rollers top followed by Reckless Rollers with Woodbourne Reds third on 28 points.

Premier Teams

In the Premier Teams Villans who had already won the League beat second placed Cheesemakers 4-2 while DNA lost 4-2 to TBC and Ramsey Raiders beat Saltire 6-0. The top three then at the end of Premier Team season is Villans as Champions with Cheesemakers second and TBC third.

First Division Teams

The First Division Teams final evening saw long time leaders Spinners take the title by beating Cowley Cannonballs 6-0 while second placed Maxums lost 4-2 to Okay, CAOS beat Odd Balls 4-2 and Girl Power lost 4-2 to Smugglers. This meant that Spinners win the league on 56 points followed by Maxums on 46 points and Smugglers third also on 46 points.

Tuesday Morning League

In the Tuesday Morning League Villans who had already won the league beat Onchan Royals 6-0, Cushags lost 4-2 to Ellan Vannin and Thru the Gap beat Early Birds 4-2. Hillbillies and Maxums played out a 3-3 draw and finally Smooth Matters lost 4-2 to Ramsey Raiders. This meant that the top we have Villans with 91 points with Cushags second on 66 points and Ellan Vannin third on 64 points.

Another League win for Villans

Week 13 of the Indoor Bowls Premier Team League may have been unlucky for Villans as they were beaten 5-1 by Ramsey Raiders but it still proved successful for them as the 1 point that they picked up was enough for them to seal their second League win of the season. We also saw Cheesemakers seal second spot as they drew 3-3 with TBC.  In the remaining match of the night Birdies were beaten 6-0 by DNA with this all meaning that Villans then take the League win with 51 points followed by Cheesemakers on 43 points and in third place are TBC with 36 points.

First Division Team

In the First Division Teams the leaders Spinners beat CAOS 4-2 while Maxums 6-0 win over Cowley Cannonballs gave them an outside chance of taking the title but it would mean them winning 6-0 and Spinners losing 6-0 to Cowley Cannonballs in the one remaining match of the season. In the other matches a great performance from Girl Power saw them defeat Odd Balls 6-0 and Okay lost 4-2 to Smugglers. The League positions with only 1 match to go are Spinners top with 50 points followed by Maxums on 44 points and Smugglers third with 42 points.

Premier Pairs

In the Premier Pairs Young Guns beat GLS 4-0, Cheesemakers drew 2-2 with TOU, Villans also drew 2-2 with Tee Pegs  and Radical Heads beat Northern Nomads 4-0. This leaves Young Guns top on 34 points followed by Villans and Cheesemakers both on 33 points so we are all looking forward to a great end of season battle for top spot.

First Division Pairs

In the First Division Pairs the top placed Villa Boys beat Enigma 4-0, second placed Spinners had a 4-0 victory over 1 in 4 and Unbelievabowls lost 3-1 to Kencoe. This left Villa Boys top on 42 points, Spinners second on 37 points and Unbelievabowls third on 22 points.

Second Division Pairs

Some great bowling in the penultimate night of the Second Division Pairs left three teams in the running for the League win on the last evening of their season. Reckless Rollers drew 2-2 with Cowley Cannonballs while Woodbourne Reds beat Smooth Matters 4-0 and Girl Power drew 2-2 with the Sensibles and Sunset Rollers had a bye. This leaves Sunset Rollers top on 30 points followed by Reckless Rollers also on 30 points and Woodbourne Reds third on 28 points and all with a chance of winning the League in the final fixtures of the season. In this the leaders Sunset Rollers play third placed Woodbourne Reds and second placed Reckless Rollers play the Sensibles so we are looking forward to an exciting nights bowling on Friday night.

Tuesday Morning League

Finally we take a brief look at the Tuesday Morning League where Villans, who have already taken the title, beat Smooth Matters 6-0, Thru the Gap beat Maxums 4-2, and Onchan Royals defeated Ellan Vannin also 4-2. Hillbillies lost 4-2 to Ramsey Raiders and Cushags beat Early Birds 4-2 leaving Villans top on 85 points followed by Cushags on 64 and in third place Ellan Vannin on 60 points.

 

Villans win Tuesday Morning League

The main story of this weeks Indoor Bowling is that after fifteen games and with another three games remaining, the Villans have clinched the Tuesday Morning League title with a 6-0 win over Hillbillies while second placed Cushags beat Smooth Matters 5-1 and third placed Ellan Vannin had a 4-2 win over Early Birds. In the remaining two games Ramsey Raiders beat Maxums 4-2 and Onchan Royals lost 4-2 to Thru the Gap. This then leaves Villans top on 79 points with Cushags second on 60 points and Ellan Vannin third with 58 points which means that Villans become League Champions with an unassailable lead of 19 points.

Premier Team

In the Premier Teams League we saw Saltire defeated 6-0 by TBC, Villans beat DNA 4-2 and Birdies beat Ramsey Raiders 4-2. The League positions after this show Villans top with 50 points, Cheesemakers second on 40 points and TBC third with 33 points.

First Division Team

The First Division Teams League saw leaders Spinners beaten 4-2 by Okay while second placed Maxums beat Odd Balls 6-0 and third placed Smugglers defeated 4-2 by CAOS. In the remaining game Cowley Cannonballs beat Girl Power 4-2 leaving Spinners still top with 46 points, Maxums second on 38 points and Smugglers third also with 38 points.

Premier Pairs

The Premier Pairs League is proving to be a closely fought competition and here we saw leaders Villans held to a draw by TOU while second placed Cheesemakers beat Northern Nomads 4-0 while Tee Pegs and Radical Heads fought out a draw and GLS beat Orange Peelers 4-0. This means that one point separates the top three with Villans top and Cheesemakers second both on 31 points and Young Guns third on 30 points.

First Division Pairs

In the First Division Pairs there were testing times for the top two teams with leaders Villa Boys held to a draw by Kencoe and second placed Spinners beaten 3-1 by Unbelievabowls while the remaining match between Enigma and 1 in 4 was won 4-0 by the latter team. This leaves Villa Boys top with 38 points with Spinners second on 33 points and Unbelievabowls third on 21 points.

Second Division Pairs

In the final competition of the week the Second Division Pairs we saw Reckless Rollers put on a great show of bowling to beat leaders Sunset Rollers 4-0, Smooth Matters drew with the Sensibles and Woodbourne Reds beat Girl Power 4-0. The leaders at this stage then are Sunset Rollers with 30 points with Reckless Rollers second on 28 points and Woodbourne Reds third on 24 points.

Villans march on in the Tuesday Morning League

With the only Indoor Bowls League running at the moment due to the three week break for the Championships we look at games 12 and 13 of this competition.

Game 12 saw leaders Villans take a 6-0 win over Ramsey Raiders while second placed Cushags also won 6-0 against Hillbillies. Smooth Matters beat Maxums 4-2 with the other two remaining matches both ending 6-0 with Ellan Vannin beating Thru the Gap and Onchan Royals beating Early Birds.

As we came to Game 13 the question was would this be an unlucky number for leaders Villans as they met second placed Cushags but it was Villans who marched on with a 4-2 win. Onchan Royals beat Maxums 4-2 and Smooth Matters beat Early Birds 4-2. A strong performance from Ellan Vannin saw them take a 6-0 victory over Ramsey Raiders and Hillbillies beat Thru the Gap 6-0.

So leaders Villans have now increased their points total to 69 points and Onchan Royals slip into second place with 51 points and Cushags are now third also on 51 points.

Close at the top in Premier Pairs

The Indoor Bowls New Year started with a one week continuation of the League Programme before going into a three week break for the 2020 Isle of Man Indoor Bowling Association Championships.

Premier Pairs

In the opening week we saw the top three in the Premier Pairs taking wins with Cheesemakers, Villans and Young Guns all taking wins leaving the top three positions as Young Guns Top with 30 points, Villans second with 29 points and Cheesemakers still very much in contention with 27 points.

First Division Pairs

The First Division Pairs saw leaders Villa Boys held to a draw by Unbelievabowls while second placed Spinners beat Enigma 4-0 and Kencoe also won 4-0 against the 1 in 4 Team. This leaves Villa Boys still in top spot with 36 points with Spinners second on 32 points and Unbelievabowls third on 18 points.

Second Division Pairs

In the Second Division Pairs Colonicles have unfortunately had to withdraw from the League so all their results for the season have been withdrawn from the League Tables. In last Fridays matches we saw Sunset Rollers beat Girl Power 4-0, Cowley Cannonballs beat Sensibles also 4-0 and Woodbourne Reds and Reckless Rollers played out a 2-2 draw which leaves Sunset Rollers top on 30 points, Reckless Rollers second on 24 points and Cowley Cannonballs third on 21 points.

Tuesday Morning League

The Tuesday Morning League saw leaders Villans beat Maxums 6-0, Onchan Royals beat Cushags 4-2 and Ramsey Raiders  also beat Early Birds 4-2. The  remaining two games saw Hillbillies lose 4-2 to Ellan Vannin and Thru the Gap beat Smooth Matters 6-0. The top three in the League after this are Villans top on 59 points with second placed Cushags having 43 points and Onchan Royals third with 41 points.

Premier Teams

In the  Premier Teams we saw leaders Villans have a bye and second placed Cheesemakers beat DNA 4-2, Birdies beat Saltire 6-0 and a great performance from Ramsey Raiders saw them take a 5-1 win over TBC. The league positions after this are Villans top on 46 points, Cheesemakers second on 40 points and Birdies now moving into third place with 28 points.

First Division Teams

First Division Teams leaders Spinners who have this season dominated the League saw their New Year start badly with a 4-2 loss to Maxums while Okay beat second placed Odd Balls 4-2, Smugglers beat Cowley Cannonballs 4-2 and Girl Power beat CAOS 4-2. League positions after this are Spinners top on 44 points, Smugglers second on 36 points and Odd Balls third on 34 points.

2020 Championships

With the 2020 Championships starting on the 13th January with the Triples Competition  the position at the time of writing this report is that we have reached the stage where we know the four teams who have qualified for the Semi Finals. In these we see Steve Cook, Edward Carlyle and Tony Dugdale play Jimmy Sansom and Paula and Stuart Garrett while in the second of these games we see Alan Franklin, Phil Smith and Win Collister play Janice Pilling and Bernice and Clive McGreal.

Top two draw in Premier Pairs

Week nine of the Indoor Bowling Leagues started with the top two teams in the Premier Pairs Cheesemakers and Young Guns meeting to play out a 2-2 draw while third placed Villans beat GLS 4-0 to close the gap on the leaders. The bottom of the table pairing TOU now seem to be finding some form and they beat Tee Pegs 4-0 while Radical Heads also had a 4-0 victory over Orange Peelers. This then leaves Young Guns on top with 24 points, Cheesemakers in second place on 23 points with Villans third with 21 points.

First Division Pairs

In the First Division Pairs the two top teams marched on as leaders the Villa Boys put in a strong performance to beat Kencoe 4-0 and second placed Spinners played equally as well to beat third placed Unbelieveabowls 4-0 while in the other match of the evening we saw Enigma beat 1 in 4 with a 3-1 result. The league leaders then are still Villa Boys who have 30 points with second placed Spinners on 26 points and Unbelieveabowls on 16 points in third place.

Second Division Pairs

The Second Division Pairs is proving to be a closely contested battle between Reckless Rollers and Sunset Rollers which I feel will go all the way to the end of the season. On this occasion Reckless Rollers didn’t play and Sunset Rollers were pushed hard by Cowley Cannonballs before winning 3-1 while Woodbourne Reds moved onto third place after beating Sensibles 4-0 and Girl Power beat Smooth Matters 4-0. This leaves Reckless Rollers top on 26 points with Sunset Rollers second on the same number of points and Woodbourne Reds third on 19 points.

Premier Team

The Premier Teams saw long time leaders Villans beat Birdies 4-2 while Cheesemakers had a 6-0 victory over Saltire and Ramsey Raiders beat DNA 4-2. With TBC having a bye on the night the league positions then are Villans in number one spot with 40 points, Cheesemakers second on 32 points and TBC third with 26 points.

First Division Team

In the First Division Teams we saw Spinners who have led from the start beat Smugglers 5-1, Odd Balls stayed in second place despite losing 4-2 to Cowley Cannonballs and Okay moved into third place with a 6-0 win over CAOS. The League Table then shows Spinners top on 38 points, Odd Balls second on 30 points and Okay third on 28 points.

Tuesday Morning League

On Tuesday in the Morning League the top placed Villans team beat Ellan Vannin 6-0, Early Birds beat Thru the Gap 4-2 and Hillbillies had a 5-1 win over Smooth Matters. In the remaining matches Cushags beat Maxums 6-0 and Onchan Royals took a 4-2 win over Ramsey Raiders. The leaves Villans top on 49 points with Cushags second on 39 points and Ramsey Raiders third on 33 points.

Honours even in the Premier Pairs

Week 8 of the Indoor Bowling season started with the unusual occurrence of every match in the Premier Pairs League ending in a draw. Tee Pegs drew with GLS while Orange Peelers v TOU, Young Guns v Northern Nomads and Radical Heads and Cheesemakers also played out drawn matches. With Villans having a bye on the night, the League positions now are Young Guns top on 22 points, Cheesemakers second on 21 points and Villans third with 17 points.

First Division Pairs

The First Division Pairs saw leaders Villa Boys have an emphatic 4-0 win over Enigma while second place Spinners were beaten 4-0 by an on form 1 in 4 team and third placed Unbelieveabowls played out a 2-2 draw with Kencoe. The outcome of this is that the top three hold their positions in the League with Villa Boys in top spot on 26 points followed by Spinners on 22 points and Unbelieveabowls on 16 points.

Second Division Pairs

In the Second Division Pairs leaders Reckless Rollers beat Girl Power 4-0 and Cowley Cannonballs and Woodbourne Reds played out a 2-2 draw while Smooth Matters were beaten 4-0 by Sunset Rollers who are undoubtedly one of the most improved pairings of this season. The match between Sensibles and Colonicles saw the points go to Sensibles when their opponents were unable to ‘field a team’. Reckless Rollers then lead the league with 24 points closely followed by Sunset Rollers on 23 points and in third place are Sensibles on 17 points.

Premier League Team

The Premier Teams League saw leaders Villans beat Saltire 5-1 while TBC beat Birdies 4-2 and Cheesemakers beat Ramsey Raiders 4-2. This means that Villans now lead the league with 36 points which gives them a healthy 10 point lead over TBC and Cheesemakers who are both on 26 points.

First Division Team

In the First Division Teams leaders Spinners were beaten 4-2 by Odd Balls, Girl Power beat Okay, Cowley Cannonballs lost to CAOS and Smugglers beat Maxums with all these games having a 4-2 score line. In the lead we still have Spinners with 33 points but Odd Balls have now closed the gap to 5 points as they have 28 points and in third place are Smugglers with 27 points.

Tuesday Morning League

The Tuesday Morning League as usual saw the Bowls Hall full with enthusiastic bowlers all keen to do well but also more importantly enjoy their bowls. I never cease to be surprised by the great atmosphere produced when the Hall and Rinks are full to capacity. League leaders Villans maintained their form to beat Early Birds 6-0 and second placed Cushags beat Thru the Gap 5-1 while Ramsey Raiders moved into third place by beating Smooth Matters 6-0. In the remaining two matches Ellan Vannin lost 4-2 to Onchan Royals and Maxums beat Hillbillies 4-2. This leaves Villain in top spot with 43 points followed by Cushags on 33 points and Ramsey Raiders on 31 points. I feel I must give a special mention to Cushags for they way that they have played this season so far to establish themselves in second place above teams who were tipped to finish higher than them.

Club Championships

As we reached the halfway point of the Indoor Bowls Premier Teams League we saw Villans extend their lead as they beat Ramsey Raiders 6-0 and second placed Cheesemakers lose 5-1 to TBC. In the remaining match we saw DNA show good form to beat Saltire 6-0. The league positions after this are that Villans lead with 31 points followed by TBC AND Cheesemakers both on 22 points.

First Division Team

In the First Division Teams the leaders Spinners took a 4-2 win over newcomers Cowley Cannonballs despite a spirited performance from the latter team while Oddballs moved into second place with a 6-0 win over Girl Power. Elsewhere Smugglers beat Okay 4-2 and Maxums lost 4-2 to CAOS, leaving Spinners in top spot on 31 points followed by Oddballs in second place with 24 points and Smugglers third on 23 points.

Premier Pairs

The Premier Pairs League saw three teams taking 4-0 wins with Northern Nomads beating Villans, Young Guns beating Radical Heads and a strong performance from GLS saw them defeat TOU and in the remaining match Orange Peelers drew with Cheesemakers. The league positions now are Young Guns top on 20 points, Cheesemakers second on 19 points and Villans third on 17 points.

First Division Pairs

The First Division Pairs saw leaders Villa Boys hold top spot as they beat 1 in 4 with a 4-0 score as second placed Spinners also had a 4-0 victory over Kencoe and Unbelieveabowls moved into third spot as they defeated Enigma 4-0. League positions then are Villa Boys top on 22 points followed by Spinners also with 22 points and Unbelieveabowls third with 14 points.

Second Divisin Pairs

In the Second Division Pairs a terrific performance from Sunset Rollers saw them beat Sensibles 4-0 while Smooth Matters and Woodbourne Reds drew as did Reckless Rollers and Cowley Cannonballs with Colonicles beating Girl Power 4-0. This leaves Reckless Rollers top with 20 points, Sunset Rollers move into second place with 19 points and Sensibles drop to third spot on 15 points.

Tuesday Morning League

The Tuesday Morning League saw leaders Villans beat Onchan Royals 6-0 while second placed Ellan Vannin were defeated 5-1 by the ever improving newcomers Smooth Matters. Hillbillies lost 4-2 to Ramsey Raiders, Early Birds lost 6-0 to Cushags and Thru the Gap beat Maxums 4-2. This leaves Villans holding first position with 37 points, Cushags second on 28 points and Ellan Vannin third on 26 points.

Reminders

Finally can I urge everyone interested in competing in the Island Indoor Bowling Championships in January to put their names on the lists in the Bowling Hall and once again I ask bowlers to please wear smooth soled shoed when on the bowling area and not to wear their outdoor shoes.

Reckless Rollers move into top place

The most significant change in League Positions in Week 6 of the Indoor Bowling Season was in Second Division Two Pairs where Reckless Rollers defeated leaders Sensibles to take the lead by three points. Elsewhere in this division all the other games ended as draws with those being Sunset Rollers v Woodbourne Reds, Colonicles against Smooth Matters and Girl Power v Cowley Cannonballs. This then leaves Reckless Rollers top on 18 points followed by Sensibles and Sunset Rollers both on 15 points.

Premier Pairs

In the Premier Pairs a great battle between Villans and Young Guns ended in a draw while Cheesemakers defeated TOU 4-0,  Tee Pegs and Northern Nomads drew and GLS beat Radical Heads 4-0. The league positions after this are Villans top on 17 points followed by Cheesemakers also on 17 points and Young Guns third on 16 points.

First Division Pairs

In the First Division Pairs Villa Boys beat Spinners 3-1 and Kencoe and Enigma drew while Unbelievabowls and 1 in 4 also played out a draw. This left Villa Boys top on 18 points followed by Spinners also on 18 points with Kencoe third on 11 points.

The Premier Teams saw leaders Villans have a bye and second placed Cheesemakers closed the gap with a 6-0 defeat of Birdies while TBC beat DNA 4-2 and Saltire lost 4-2 to Ramsey Raiders. The result of this is that Villans still lead with 25 points, Cheesemakers are second on 21 points and TBC third on 16 points.

First Division Team

Spinners continued their great form in the First Division Teams to beat Girl Power 6-0, Smugglers beat Cowley Cannonballs 4-2, Okay beat Maxums 4-2 and Odd Balls beat CAOS also 4-2. League positions here are Spinners at the top with 27 points, Smugglers second on 19 points and Odd Balls third on 18 points.

Tuesday Morning League

The Tuesday Morning League saw leaders Villans beat Cushags 4-2 with every other one of the remaining four fixtures also ending up with a 4-2 score line. Maxums lost to Ramsey Raiders, Smooth Matters beat Early Birds, Thru the Gap lost to Onchan Royals and Ellan Vannin beat Hillbillies. The lead is still held by Villans on 31 points, second are Ellan Vannin on 25 points and third place is held by Onchan Royals on 23 points.

Spinners go clear at the top of First Division Team League

This week’s Indoor Bowls report starts with the First Division Teams League where Spinners defeated their closest rivals Maxums to take a clear lead in the league  and, after the first five matches, and themselves as the early favourites. Elsewhere in the league Okay lost 4-2 to Girl Power, CAOS beat Smugglers 4-2 and Cowley Cannonballs also had a 4-2 win against Oddballs. The current leaders are Spinners on 21 points followed by Maxums on 15 points and Smugglers also on 15 points.

Premier Team

In the Premier Teams we saw leaders Villans beat DNA 6-0, while second placed Birdies put in a strong performance to beat Saltire 6-0, TBC and Ramsey Raiders drew 3-3. This then means that Villans currently lead on 25 points with Birdies second on 16 points and Cheesemakers third on 15 points.

Tuesday Morning League

The Tuesday Morning League saw Villans beat the ever improving Smooth Matters 6-0 with the latter team playing very well despite what appears on paper to be a heavy defeat. Ellan Vannin beat Cushags 4-2, Onchan Royals beat Hillbillies 6-0, Thru the Gap lost 4-2 to Ramsey Raiders and Maxums beat Early  Birds 6-0. This leaves Villans in top place with 27 points, Ellan Vannin second with 21 points and Cushags third on 20 points.

Premier Pairs leaders Villans took a 3-1 win and second placed Young Guns also had a 3-1 win over Orange Peelers. A great performance from Tee Pegs saw them beat Cheesemakers 3-1 and GLS and Northern Nomads drew 2-2. The league positions after this is Villans still top on 15 points with Young Guns second on 14 points and Cheesemakers third on 13 points.

First Division Pairs

The First Division Pairs seems to be turning into an intriguing  battle between Spinners and Villa Boys who met in this latest round of matches. It was the Spinners who ran out 3-1 winners on this occasion with Unbelieveabowls also beating 1 in 4 with a similar 3-1 scoreline, and Kencoe and Enigma playing out a 2-2 draw. Spinners are now in the lead with 17 points followed by Villa Boys on 15 points and Kencoe on 9 points.

Second Division Pairs

The Second Division Pairs would appear to be developing into  a three way battle between Sensibles, Reckless Rollers and Sunset Rollers and Sensibles kept their title hopes alive with a 4-0 win over Smooth Matters, Reckless Rollers took  a 4-0 win when Colonicles couldn’t field a pair and Sunset Rollers beat Girl Power 3-1. The final game in this group saw Cowley Cannonballs draw 2-2 with Woodbourne Reds. In this division we have Sensibles top on 15 points, Reckless Rollers second with 14 points and Sunset Rollers third with 13 points.

Club Championships

Finally can I just remind everyone about the Championships which are starting in the New Year and urge you to put your names on the list in the Bowls Hall if you wish to take part
