This week in the Indoor Bowls we have seen the Spinners get their second consecutive 6-0 win in the First Division Teams League this time with a strong performance against the Optimists. In the remaining matches in this league we saw OK beat Oddballs 4-2 and Maxums lost 2-4 to Castletown Crofters leaving Spinners top of the league with 12 points followed by Castletown Crofters with 8 points and in third place are OK with 6 points.
In the Premier Teams we saw a great performance from Villans as they beat Bay City Bowlers 6-0, Cheesemakers beat Ramsey Wallys 4-2 and Saltire lost 0-6 to Ramsey Raiders. This means that at this early stage in the season that Villans top the league with 10 points followed by Ramsey Raiders on 8 points and Cheesemakers on 7 points.
The popular Tuesday Morning League continues to provide some good bowling and we saw Dragons beat Earlybirds 6-0 while in a close match Onchan Royals beat Castletown Crofters 6-2. Villans took a 5-1 win against Hillbillies, Thru the Gap beat Ramsey Raiders 4-2 and Jacks on a Roll lost 4-2 to Maxums. In the lead then are Dragons with 12 points followed by Castletown Crofters on 8 points and in third place are Onchan Royals also on 8 points.
In the Premier Pairs Ramsey Raiders lost 0-4 to Dragons, Villa Boys drew 2-2 with Young Guns, Cheesemakers beat the Blues Bros 4-0 and the Officials drew 2-2 with Tee Pegs. So after two matches we see Dragons in first place with 8 points followed by the Cheesemakers pairing of Trevor Quayle and Wayne Roberts on 6 points and in third spot are the Villa Boys with 4 points.
The First Division Pairs saw How Much? beat Stan and Ollie 4-0, the 1 in 4 pair of Alan Franklin and Colin Brown beat TinJo 4-0, TOU beat Enigma 3-1 and a very tight game between Castletown Crofters and Ramsey Wallys ended with a 3-1 win for the latter team. Ramsey Wallys then lead the league with 7 points and in second place are 1 in 4 also with 7 points and How Much? Are third with 5 points.
In the Friday Afternoon Pairs the Dragons marched on with a 4-0 victory over Em and Bee while the team OK pairing of Kay McKiernan and Shaun Seal beat Sunset Rollers 4-0 also. High Jacks and Rejects drew 2-2 and the match between Celtic Thunder and Lenton Athletic has been rearranged to be played at a later date. This means that Dragons are top with 8 points followed by OK also on 8 points and in third place are Sunset Rollers on 4 points.
The week as always ended with the Singles League and in this we saw newcomer to Indoor Bowls this year Gordon Wynne-Smythe beat Alan Franklin 10-9, Win Kewley beat Mike Moyer 16-13 and reigning Champion Muriel Cain beat Marilyn Ellison 21-4. In the remaining game John Kewley beat Dee Lewis 12-7 which leaves Win Kewley topping the league with 6 points followed by Muriel Cain on 3 points and Alan Franklin also on 3 points.
