League Leaders Strengthen Title Hopes Across Leagues

After the excitement of the Indoor Bowls Championship, it is back to business with several league leaders tightening their grip at the top as the season approaches its closing stages.

In the Copyshop Premier Pairs League, Dragons took both sets against J & A to move six points clear at the top. Second-placed Lee Don were held to a draw by third-placed Simple Minds, keeping the chasing pack within reach. Ayre Assassins remain in contention after a narrow draw with Green Machine. Villa Boys secured a two-set win over Douglas Old Boys, while Villans climbed the table after taking both sets from Statler & Waldorf.

Tuesday morning’s fixtures saw Villans extend their overall lead to an impressive 18 points after adding four more to their tally. KCS Sunshine Band, in second, drew with Early Birds. Bowling Stones collected four points against Castletown Crofters, and Maxums claimed both sets in their win over Northern Lights. Stand & Deliver won two sets, but The Wolves managed to rescue a draw from the remaining set.

In the Tuesday Pairs League, Castletown Crofters extended their lead with a two-set victory over GGs. CC & Me remain five points behind in second after beating Pin Pals by two sets. Third-placed 1-in-4 suffered a setback, losing both sets to Tou. Enigma and Atlas shared a closely fought 12–10 draw, while Yesterday’s News and MisFits also finished level.

Midweek action in the Copyshop Team League saw leaders Simple Minds stretch their advantage further. Second-placed Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest picked up a point from a drawn set in their meeting with the leaders. Villans moved into third after winning two sets against Northern Lights, drawing level on points with Crown Greeners, who were unable to take a set from Saltire. Dave’s Pride recorded a 25–19 win and claimed the match two sets to one against Dragons.

The Triples League title race remains wide open. Bowlistics lead the way after taking both sets from Northern Lights. Optimists sit just four points behind in second following a draw with Ever Hopefuls, while third-placed GGs also recorded a draw against IBS. Gutter Gang and Castletown Crofters battled to a tight 13–12 draw.

In the Friday Pairs League, KT Sunshine Band maintained their title push with a two-set win over Emanden UTD. CC & Me were held to a draw by GGs, and Top Dogs also shared the points with Weather Girls.

In the First Division Singles, Gary Merrill remains top after a win against Anita Roberts. Paul Routledge and Nicola Whiting also recorded wins. Wayne Roberts continues to lead the Premier Singles following success over John Houseman, while John Kewley, Dave McCabe and Mike Moyer were also among the winners.

With only weeks remaining, the battle for honours across all leagues is intensifying.
