A dramatic week of bowls action saw just chalk difference separating the leaders in the Copyshop Premier Pairs, while several other Copyshop leagues also delivered close finishes and first wins of the season.
Lee Don holds on to top spot despite being pushed hard by Dragons, who took a set and drew the other to move level on points. Simple Minds remain in striking distance after a two-set win over Douglas Old Boys. The Green Machine edged the first set by a single chalk before cruising through the second for a comfortable win against Villa Boys. Villans and J & A could not be split, sharing the points after a draw, while Ayre Assassins recorded a commanding two-set win over Statler & Waldorf.
In the Tuesday Team League, Villans maintained their title push with maximum points, while Ramsey Raiders kept up the pressure in second after a strong all-round display. Bowling Stones claimed wins in both the triples and singles against KCS Sunshine Band, and Early Birds continued their good form with a full-points victory. The Wolves drew their triples with Castletown Crofters, slipped up in the singles, but rallied to take the doubles.
Pin Pals closed the gap to two points on leaders 1-in-4 in the First Division Pairs, while CC & Me and Enigma both notched their first wins of the season. TOU and GGs finished all square, as did Atlas and Castletown Crofters.
In the Wednesday Team League, Simple Minds narrowed the gap on Dave’s Pride with victories in the singles and doubles, as Saltire celebrated their first win. Crown Greeners started well with triples win over Dragons, who hit back in the singles, but the Greeners piled on the chalks to take the doubles. Emerald Easers battled hard, losing the triples and singles to Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest before holding on for win in the doubles.
Optimists remain on top of the Triples League after a draw and a set win against Ever Hopefuls, maintaining a three-point cushion over second-placed GGs, who claimed both sets against IBS. Northern Lights shared the spoils with Bowlistics, while Castletown Crofters won both sets against Gutter Gang.
CC & Me stay clear at the top of the Copyshop Friday Pairs League, four points ahead after another two-set win. KT Sunshine Band hold second place following a straight sets win over Top Dogs.
